Relational Psychotherapy

for Individuals & Couples

Ontario & British Columbia • Virtual & In-person

Trauma-informed and
Compassion-focused

Relational psychotherapy is a gentle approach that strengthens and transforms a person’s sense of self, and enhances their confidence and well-being.

Hi! I’m Alexia.
I also go by Lex.

Thank you for visiting my site - I’m glad you’re here. I’m a registered psychotherapist and somatic practitioner based in Vancouver and practicing across BC and Ontario. I also have an MA in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education. I work virtually and in-person with individuals, couples, and families.

My two decades working in the non-profit sector as a counsellor and educator, coupled with my own experience as a client led me to become a therapist. I had some unhelpful experiences with therapy, and then I had a transformative one. I learned how to heal from old beliefs, make friends with my all my parts, and I started speaking to myself in a kinder voice. I discovered how to bring unconscious things to light (oh hello shame!), and rewire my nervous system. This is an ongoing process.  ‍ ‍

Being present as a therapist requires resourcing myself, and I do that by walking my dog early in the morning, playing NYT Connections with my kids and partner after dinner, making collages, thrifting, and journalling. I love biking around East Van, and taking photos of all the murals. I feel most at home when I am taking deep breaths near trees and water.

I move through the world as a white, queer, cisgender, able-bodied, person. I’m also a partner, bonus parent, and dog guardian.

Offerings

  • Individual Therapy

The simple act of noticing and naming a feeling with an empathetic person can bring insight and clarity. As you begin to heal you may start connecting to yourself and others with greater intimacy, presence and acceptance.

  • Couples + Family Therapy

I help people understand their relationships in deeper ways and offer tools for building intimacy and a more secure bond. All types of couples are welcome, and I also work with families, and various other intimate relationships.

  • IFS and Somatic Awareness

We can be stuck even when we have insight, so we need to shift out of our heads and become conscious of your nervous system states, and our protector parts. I use Internal Family Systems theory from an embodied place, integrating polyvagal exercises and breath pattern awareness.
